Palm Theatre

The Palm Theatre is our local independent movie theater located in the heart of downtown SLO. My husband and I used to live a few blocks away and would walk down to see a movie every few weeks or so. The theater has so much character, plus tickets are relatively inexpensive and you can get a small popcorn for only $1! The only downside is that they don’t see advance tickets so you have to get in line before the box office opens a half hour before the show to guarantee you’ll get tickets to the movie you want to see–the theatre rooms are pretty tiny. They also have $5 movie mondays which is even better for my budget!

In the spring of every year, the theatre also hosts the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival, a 3 day event that draws filmmakers from various parts of the world and showcases local talent. Jeff and I went my freshman year of college to see James Cromwell (Babe, L.A. Confidential) receive the festival’s honorary award!

It’s been a few months since we’ve been but I have been wanting to see Sarah’s Key so maybe we’ll be back soon!
