Meze, meaning “a selection of small dishes served in the Mediterranean and Middle East,” is a cute new tapas and wine restaurant located in the old railroad district in SLO. On their website, the owners describe the place as a ” neighborhood wine bar and market feature cheese + cured meats + wine.”
I drive past the restaurant on my way home from work everyday, so I was eagerly awaiting its opening to go check out out. Because it’s a bit pricey, Jeff and I have only been once since it opened a few months ago but if you can afford it, it’s definitely worth checking out. The entire place has an Italian deli/market atmosphere with a few bar tables placed on the side to sit at and grab a bite to eat and drink. The kitchen is also in the center of the room, so it was fun to watch the chefs prepare everything while we waited. We ordered a country board of meats, cheeses, and olives and a small pitcher of wine on tap–so fun!
They have “Meze Mondays” where you can get a glass of wine and a tap for $8–it would be the perfect place to go before or after a Monday date at The Palm Theatre (link) , don’t you think? (maybe my husband will get the hint… ;) )
