{Bob Jones Bike Trail}

I’m so excited about today’s post! The Bob Jones Bike Trail is one of my favorite trails in the area; I’ve been wanting to share it with you since I started this blog, but just hadn’t made it out that direction until last weekend. The 2.5 mile trail starts off of Ontario Road in Avila Beach, pretty close to Avila Valley Barn, and takes you all the way into downtown Avila. The trail takes you through gorgeous wooded areas, apple orchards, the country club, and the golf course as it winds along San Luis Obispo Creek.

I usually bike the trail as a fun way to get to the beach, but I also used the trail to mix up my half marathon training last year. On Saturday, Jeff and I set off with the intention of stopping at the Woodstone Market about halfway down to the trail to grab some sandwiches before heading the rest of the way to the beach. It was a perfect day–75 degrees with a slight breeze on the ocean. Can’t really beat that!

I figured I would take you on a photo trip down the trail, so you can experience the fun too!

We started by parking our car in the parking lot directly across from the trailhead and then crossed the street with our bikes to begin the journey.

After crossing the bridge above, you used to make an immediate left and wind up directly on a super busy road that you had to cross via a crosswalk that people sometimes stopped at in order to get to the beach. It was definitely not an ideal way to end such a beautiful trail. Recently, they fixed the problem by extending the trail to the right and installing a stop light out of the golf course–so much nicer, not to mention safer!
